Ode to Cool Whip

Every morning when I ask Fletcher what he wants for breakfast he inevitably answers "Cream". That means whipped cream for those of you who do not speak Fletcher. And every morning I say "Cream is not breakfast. Pick something else." This morning though, against my better judgement, I caved and let him eat cream for breakfast. Have you had the new Cool Whip in a can?! It's delicious!!!! Anyway, after squirting out a bowl for him I decided to make one for myself. He and I sat at the table just talking and eating cream. He told me that I needed to try his because it tastes different than mine, and then he needed a bite of mine to make sure it really did taste different than his. We talked about how he thinks he is a real fireman and that he puts out fires at night when I am sleeping. We also talked about how he doesn't like to go to swim class because he doesn't like water in his ears. And apparently he likes Macey way more than he likes Cali because Cali hits him. 3 bowls later we were stuffed. I loved having this moment with him. Not only does he love me more than Daddy now because I let him eat something bad for breakfast, but we probably wouldn't have just sat here and talked like we did if I didn't "break the rules" for a day. I am such a planner and like for things to run as scheduled (I blame it on OCD), but this morning taught me that being a little more flexible would probably not be a bad thing. Life will go on even if Fletcher eats cream for breakfast.

PS. In keeping with the spirit of my blog, I let Fletcher dress himself today. He opted for sweat pants on backwards with no underwear. I must be the best mom ever!!

So wait...you're saying that things DON'T always have to go according to plan? Interesting concept. Thanks for the introspection I loved this post and I think I'm going to wear sweat pants backwards with no underwear today. Fletcher the trend setter.

I love eating cream for breakfast. Most of the time, my cream comes from whatever is left over from Kodys plate of waffles and cream that I can scrape up with my finger. De-lish none the less. I think we can blame the "plans" on a little more than OCD. Have you met our father? It's just in our genes. There's no denying it. I say- if you can't beat em, you join em! It's sweats with no undies for everyone!!! Give that Fletchy a hug from Nanny. I'll see you soon!!! :P

Ok I think it's going to be the 3 of us that plan this blogapalooza so what are we going to do? When is Cream Lady coming out here?

First of all, the world shook a little bit for me when I read "Cool Whip in a can". What a beautiful concept. And I love that you got this little moment of rule-bending with Fletcher. And I love that he wants something so yummy and luxurious for breakfast every day. Unfortunately I am in dire need of sweatpants that aren't four sizes too big, so I will continue in my un-trendy ways, to the benefit of everyone who sees me today. And finally, Justin and I will be at the Blogapalooza. Just tell us when.

I cannot wait for the Blog Mixer. Seriously, my heart skipped a beat when I read that Justin and Jenn would be making an apperance! It will be around the same time as the family 5K- which you will both be attending- right? Janelle is the commissioner this year- so we will have to ask her as to when. And Robbie- Cream Lady is coming out here soon. I am however going out there over Memorial Day weekend. Why don't you come with me, and let us show you a good time. You haven't had "fun" till you've been on the Tippy Tippy Top of the world with us!

P.S. Jenn, you might want to head directly to your nearest grocery store to go get some Cream. It is so delicious and perfect in every way! Even the guy at the check out was impressed with my can of Cool Whip.

Shannon and I were just discussing why Cool whip in a can is so much better than Cool Whip in a tub. The conclusion- cream in the condensed form always trumps regular cream. Or as Shannon so elegantly put it- Cool Whip in a can is tighter.

As for the Mixer, Robbie- consider this a warning. Party planning with Hambly girls may not be like any party planning experience you may have had before. When I say OCD I mean OCD. And we are not nice people. If your idea sucks we will tell you your idea sucks. No tears. Think about it.

As long as the 5K isn't on Fourth of July. We have super-duper-fireworks-on-the-beach-extravaganza here on the Fourth, which cannot be missed. (Anyone is invited up here to experience this, by the way.) And we may be moving at the beginning of July. So anyway, we'll be there if we possibly can!

Robbie said...

Ok So when is the 5k run? We have to plan it around that so we can take advantage of having as many poeple here as possible. Shannon I'm a little scared when you say that you and Shar will "show me a good time". And where exactly is the tippy tippy top of the world?

Justin said...

OK let's see... Jenn and I will be there if we can for sure.

Robbie watch out for these Nazi Party planners. Two things are certain. Most of your ideas will suck and not make it in the party plans and the food will be outstanding.

I think Hambly's in general just have this nack for party and food planning. It sound like cream in a can will be on the menu and featured at this party and the uniform for the night is sweat pants backward and no undies. I refuse to wear sweat pants of any kind in public so I will break that rule.

Is it bad if a comment has multiple paragraphs?

We need to come up with a theme for the party. This will really get the ball rolling. The more bizarre the idea the better the party will be. And then we need a place. If Shannon's in-laws didn't hate her so much we could have had it there. Trust me- that bridge was burned at Jared's party. Thanks a lot, Shannon!! So get your thinking caps on.

The Hambly Family 5K is going to be planned around when Sharalyn wil be out in California. You tell me the weekend and I will plan away. We may have ghetto homemade t-shirts, but we will run our little hearts out. Cool whip in a can sounds really yummy right now. Sometimes I find things in my cupboard to dip in to the coolwhip tub. Now I can just squeeze with less mess. Love it! Yeah for Fletcher and his fantastic ideas! Love him!!!!!

Just wanted to add that you have so many comments. This one may take the record for highest comments ever!!! Go Sharalyn!!!!!

Especially if I keep leaving so many!

Don't you think?

Steve and Janelle said...

ok, I'm done...

Janelle- you make me laugh. I just had an idea for the 5k. What if we went with an Olympics theme. Each family could make a flag to represent them. We could have opening ceremonies and everything. Maybe light a ring of fire or something. And then for the motivational speaker each family would designate a representative to give a little speach about how they trained for the event or how being active plays a role in their family. Just an idea...

S.Miles said...

I think someone wants to be "co-commissioner...." I do however like the Olympic idea. My mind is already running with ideas for the cupcakes. I will be in charge of the goodie bags if no one else wants to. The other day I was at the store and I found some cool stuff and I thought- those would be cool for the 5K! My mind needs serious help!~

Steve and Janelle said...

As commissioner I am going to grant permission to Shannon to do the goody bags. I like the Olympic theme also. The whole fire ring thing I am not so sure...

edmundsfam said...

ok so maybe not a "ring" of fire, but how about a torch that we run through Simi? We could have team colors and evrything.

S.Miles said...

what if each family runs the 5K together holding the torch? Simi's not that big- we could cover some serious ground! I know this is your year to plan, so I will just be in the background doing whatever you need me to!

I was the worst commissioner.
